Sustainability

The broadly agreed definition of sustainability is:

Practices and development that meet the needs of the current generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

Although this definition has been widely accepted, applying it in a meaningful way to all levels of society has posed a major challenge.

At Calmsley Hill, we have started our sustainable journey based on four principles:

  1. Sustainability is everyone’s business
  2. The cost of sustainability must be borne equally
  3. Long term solutions require a whole system perspective
  4. People need to be able to live healthy, fulfilling and sustainable lives
